C.W. Kahles gave us many memorable characters over the years and while I wouldn't exactly put Clumsy Claude anywhere near the top of the list, I do want to make sure he gets his moment in the sun. With a title like this, you pretty know what to expect before your eyes even hit panel one. Kahles does his best to keep it interesting, did I mention Claude hangs out with a talking dog?
Claude had a decent enough run, he debuted in 1909 and we've posted strips all the way up to the spring of 1916. Assuming the latter years aren't re-runs, you gotta give the kid some props - that's a long time to run with a one-joke premise.
I hate to run the disclaimer, but there's at least one strip in the archive that is, shall we say, indicative of the era's insensitivity - we certainly don't condone it, but ask that you please keep this in mind when perusing the strips.
